Investment in this fund requires as little as one thousand dollars initially, and the annual turnover for the portfolio is approximately four percent so the trading costs are low.

The Fidelity Spartan 500 Index Fund is one of the no load mutual funds that can be purchased without using a broker or financial advisor. With a yearly management expense ratio for this fund at only one tenth of one percent, this is a fund that should definitely be considered. This fund can be directly invested into with no middleman., saving you money.

3. Schwab S&P 500 Index Fund, stock symbol SWPPX, or SWPIX for the sister fund.

One of the best no load funds to consider would be the Schwab S&P 500 Index Fund. There is only a three percent turnover rate, but the initial investment amount is fifty thousand dollars, which is a bit steep for many investors. If there is a problem in this area, there is a sister fund at Schwab that only requires a one hundred dollar initial investment.

One of the best no load index funds is the Ssga S&P 500 Index Fund. The management expense ratio is a small point sixteen percent, and there are no load fees or 12b-1 fees vfor marketing that are deducted. The annual turnover ratio for this fund is somewhat higher than many other funds at twelve percent, but it is a good fund to consider because of all the benefits.

5. T Rowe Price Total Equity Market Index Fund 500, stock symbol POMIX

The T Rowe Price Total Equity Market Index Fund 500 is one of the no load mutual funds that should be seriously considered for any fund investment. The management expense ratio annually is a small three percent, and there are no marketing or load fees. With over ten billion dollars in assets, this fund is strong and stable. In addition, the turnover ratio for the portfolio is only five percent. The initial investment deposit amount for this fund is twenty five hundred dollars.

6. United Association S&P 500 Index Fund II, stock symbol UAIIX

Started in the year 2000, this is one of the lesser known no load mutual funds that warrants consideration. The fund was started by the United Association of the Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Sprinklerfitters Union, but is available to the general public as well. A one thousand dollar minimum investment is needed for this fund, and it is considered smaller with assets worth only a quarter of a billion dollars when compared to funds which have billions, but this can be a good thing at times.

The USAA S&P 500 Index Fund is one of the no load index funds which should be considered before investing. The assets owned are more than three billion dollars worth, and a four percentage annual turnover means low fees. To invest in this fund you do not need a middleman like a broker or financial advisor, bu you do need to be a USAA member.

8. Vanguard 500 Index Fund- Admiral, stock symbol VFIAX

One of the most popular no load index funds, and for good reason, is the Vanguard 500 Index Fund- admiral shares. The Admiral shares in this fund have more than thirty five million dollars in assets, and a low nine one hundredths of a percent annual expense ratio. The minimum investment amount is one hundred thousand dollars to get the low rate though, so you may want to look at the other Vanguard funds instead if this amount is problematic.

9. Vanguard 500 Index Fund, stock symbol VFINX

The Vanguard 500 Index Fund is a much lower investment capital alternative than the Vanguard 500 Index Fund- Admiral. This fund only requires a three thousand dollar minimum investment, and has a point eighteen annual expense ratio. Like most no load index funds, this fund tracks the S&P and can be invested in without a broker or other third party.

10. Vantagepoint 500 Index Fund- Stock II, stock symbol VPSKX

This is one of the no load mutual funds which has restrictions on who can invest, but the Vantagepoint 500 Index Fund- Stock II fund is a good one if you meet the qualification. To invest, you must meet the eligibility requirements to invest through a retirement savings plan which is offered through your employer, one that offers these shares as an investment option.
